Hockin Wins Silver With London
Hockin, who is one of two overagers on the team, recently committed to the Western University Mustangs men’s volleyball program for next season. His medal with the LVC Heat over the weekend will be one of his last, as he transitions from the club to University, and due to his ineligibility as an overager for provincials and nationals.
“Both Brad Hockin and Cole Jordan have been wonderful additions to the team but they are not eligible for the Provincials and the Nationals so it is time that we learn to compete with the other boys who have been training hard to catch up,” coach Wayne Rabley said in a LVC release about the team’s weekend, commenting on the value of his two overagers.
After winning their pool and through the quarter and semi-finals, the Heat faced the Pacman in the final, losing in three sets.
“If you had told me before this tournament started that with all of the changes that we have made over the past two weeks that we would compete this well in the finals against such a good team, I would have seriously questioned you,” said Rabley,”but it is a true testament to the character of the athletes on this team. Hopefully, we can continue to grow.”
Hockin won back to back OFSAA gold medals over the last two season with the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks.
