Five Questions With Taylor McArthur
The Ursuline College Chatham graduate, who won several Kent running championships, also plays soccer for the Wallaceburg Sting. McArthur takes Liberal and Professional Studies at the University of Windsor.
Below are Taylor McArthur’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions:
1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?
Running a 2:25.04 1km race at Notre Dame, 7th fastest all time from a Windsor athlete. And following it up with a 3:51.29 2 days later 10th fastest all time from a Windsor athlete. It was a huge confident boost moving into Championship season.
2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?
The Toronto Maple Leafs are my favourite sports team. Go Leafs! And athlete would be no other than Steve Prefontaine. He knew how to run with his head and his heart.
3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?
To wear the red and white and represent my Country at some point in my career.
4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?
I would have to say my high school coach, Steve Whyte. As an uneducated runner in high school I didn’t understand the mental game of running and after 5 years of his coaching and support I can without a doubt say that my strongest asset when training or competing is my mental strength.
5. What do you love most about playing sports?
Pushing my limits. When I get out in the race course or playing field I just think to myself, “how far can I push my limits today.” Your limits are what you make them and I’m enjoying finding mine.
Five Questions is a weekly feature on the Chatham-Kent Sports Network. We’ll ask athletes from across Chatham-Kent Five Questions, and post their answers every week. If you know an athlete or coach we should question, or you’re an athlete or coach who would like to participate in “Five Questions,” please email us at ian@cksn.ca.
