Wheatley’s Kyle Quick scored the game winner for the Leamington Flyers as they edged the Chatham Maroons 5-4 Sunday afternoon in Leamington to take a 2-1 series lead.

The Leamington Flyers came out of the gate firing early and ofter, scoring three first period goals before the Chatham Maroons finally got on the board as Adam Arseneault finished off a play from Kyle Brothers and Tanner Ferguson to make the score 3-1 after one.

In the second, Arseneault scored on the powerplay, and shorthanded to cap off a hat trick, but Leamington also got a goal from Dylan Seguin, to keep Leamington up by one heading into the third.

At the 6:21 mark of the third period, Kyle Quick scored for Leamington on the powerplay to put them up by two. His goal would stand as the game winner after Ferguson scored from Arseneault and Brothers in the dying seconds of the game.

Chatham managed only one shot, which they scored, in the third period.

The series, which Leamington now leads the GOJHL Western Conference final 2-1, returns to Chatham Tuesday night at 7pm.
