The Chatham Ballhawks 14U Boys volleyball team won the Tier 2 silver medal at the Ontario Volleyball Championships on the weekend of April 4-6 in Waterloo.

Ranked 23rd of 29 teams in the 14U Boys division, the Ballhawks were the surprise of the tournament playing to an overall record of 6-4 on the weekend. After winning important pool play games on Friday and Saturday, they were rewarded with a quarter-final berth in the elimination round on championship Sunday.

The Ballhawks soared through the quarters and semi-finals, defeating the Ottawa Fusion (25-12, 25-21) and the Leaside Thunder (25-16, 25-20) but were defeated in the finals by the Markham Stingers (25-9, 25-23). Strong play at the net, serving and relentless defense were important factors that led to the silver medal.
