The Chatham-Kent Maximum Edge/Chatham Pro Shop Rockets competed in the Detroit Motown Cup Tournament this past weekend and came home victorious.

Winning the Squirt A 2004-2005 age group championship, the Rockets are a local spring team comprised of players from Chatham and Blenheim, including multiple players from the Blenheim Novice Rep team that won the OMHA championship last month.

Opening the tournament against Erie North Shore, the Chatham-Kent Rockets played well at both ends of the ice, icing a 3-0 win.

Aidan Wheeler, with an assist going to Sam Warriner, opened the scoring in the first, before Brayden Degelas and Braden Twigg each picked up goals in the third. Declan Waddick assisted on both third period goals.

Later in the day Saturday, Chatham-Kent dominated a 7-0 victory against Stoney Creek. Waddick had a hat trick and added two assists, while Brayden Degelas also had a hat trick. Aidan Wheeler had a pair of assists, while Maclean Norris and Cam Wellington also had helpers.

Entering the second day of the tournament, the Rockets rocked the Redford Royals 6-1, with six different players hitting the scoresheet. Colton Graham, Logan Houle, Maclean Norris, Cam Wellington, Rorey Elson, and Harrison Oickle scored in the win.

Facing Erie North Shore again in the final, the Chatham-Kent Rockets capped off the tournament with a perfect record, winning the title with a 5-1 win.

Brayden Degelas scored a pair of goals, while Rorey Elson had a goal and an assist for the Rockets. Logan Houle and Andrew Goulet also scored, while Declan Waddick had two assists, and Braden Twigg added a helper.
