After a successful Minor Midget ‘AAA’ season, and OHL Draft, multiple Chatham-Kent Cyclones hockey players have been named to the Alliance Hockey’s OHL Gold Cup roster.

Chatham’s Joseph Raaymakers, Wallaceburg’s Brady Pataki, and Pain Court’s Levi Tetrault were all on the Alliance’s roster, which was announced Tuesday. As well, Wallaceburg/Sombra product, Alexander Dekoning, who played for the Lambton Jr. Sting this season, was also named to the roster.

Goaltender Joseph Raaymakers, who was a second round draft pick, 37th overall by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the OHL Draft this year, will be counted on to backstop Team Alliance at the annual event.

Up front, Wallaceburg’s Brady Pataki will provide a power presence for the Alliance. Pataki, a fourth round pick, 65th overall by the Sudbury Wolves, finished in the top 20 in scoring at the OHL Cup this year, leading his Chatham-Kent Cyclones to a semi-final berth.

On the blueline, Levi Tetrault will be counted on, much like he did all season in Chatham, to stabilize the point and shut down the oppositions top players for the Alliance. A fourth round selection of the Guelph Storm, 73rd overall, Tetrault was the captain of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones this season.

Dekoning, who went undrafted, had 11 goals and 13 assists for the Lambton Jr. Sting in the regular season, and was the team’s leading scorer, with 9 points in 7 games in the postseason.

The U16 OHL Gold Cup is an annual event featuring Ontario’s top U16 talents, and is used to evaluate and select players for Team Canada, in particular, to attend Ontario’s, and Canada’s Under 17 final selection camps.

Last season, Port Lambton’s Brendan Johnston, a fifth round pick of the Windsor Spitfires represented the Alliance at the Gold Cup.

The OHL Gold Cup will run from May 8 to May 11 in Kitchener, Ontario.
