Matt Liberty is a 21-year-old baseball player from Dresden, Ontario.

This season, Liberty is suiting up for the AIB College of Business Eagles, who compete in the NAIA’s Midwest Collegiate Conference.

Liberty is in his Junior season after previously attending and competing with Sauk Valley Community College. A Lambton-Kent Composite School graduate, Liberty is a left handed pitcher for the AIB Eagles, who are located out of Des Moines, Iowa.

Below are Matt Liberty’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions:

1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?

Being recruited and asked to play college baseball for Sauk-Valley CC and AIB College of Business.

2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?

The Atlanta Braves and Craig Kimbrel.

3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?

Throw a perfect game and play professional baseball.

4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?

My biggest influence when it comes to sports has to be my family, they have been with, and have supported my dreams since the beginning. They are the reason I am where I am today.

5. What do you love most about playing sports?

The thing I love most about participating in sports, especially baseball, is the team chemistry a team has to have in order to be successful. The other guys on your team aren’t just another person, they are all your brothers and that bond you share with each and every other player is one of the most unique feelings one can ever feel. That is why I love playing team sports, especially baseball.

Five Questions is a weekly feature on the Chatham-Kent Sports Network. We’ll ask athletes from across Chatham-Kent Five Questions, and post their answers every week. If you know an athlete or coach we should question, or you’re an athlete or coach who would like to participate in “Five Questions,” please email us at ian@cksn.ca.
