GOJHL To Appeal Junior A Transition Decision, Have Your Say
Last week, a decision was made to keep the GOJHL as a Junior B league, rather than grant the league’s application to be reclassified as a Junior A (Tier II) league.
This week however, the GOJHL has stated they will be appealing the Ontario Hockey Association’s decision.
The OHA originally denied the application due to an absence of rationale for the reclassification. Other media sources are stating the decision was also denied due to the fact the OHA has an agreement with the OJHL, Ontario’s current Tier II Junior A league, for it to remain as the Province’s exclusive Junior A loop under the OHA umbrella.
Currently, the GOJHL features 26 teams from across Ontario, as well as one from Buffalo, New York. The OJHL currently features 22 teams, spanning from Buffalo to Kingston, but is league predominantly located in the GTA.
