Kent Choas Win Ontario Volleyball Gold
“I couldn’t be anymore happier for these girls as they battled all weekend and worked hard all year to make this happen,” coach Kelly Beausejour said about the win in an email to CKSN.
The Chaos began tournament play Friday with a bulls-eye on their backs as teams wanted to take the highly ranked team down. In the preliminary pool the Kent Chaos defeated the Kingston Pegasus 2-0, losing to 1-2 Aurora Storm and 0-2 Toronto Ms Packmen.
On day 2 when they were re-pooled the Chaos went undefeated beating Toronto Leeside 2-1, London Forest City 2-0 and Brampton Selects 2-0.
Sunday, entering the playoffs, the Chaos faced the Waterloo Tiger in a win or go home quarter-final match, taking the first set 25-21, 25-23. After that win the Chaos moved on to the semi-finals to face the #2 ranked Sudbury Northern Chill. In a thrilling 3 set match the Chaos came out on top 26-24, 20-25, 15-11.
In the finals, Chatham-Kent faced a familiar foe in Toronto Leaside, and after just finishing an exciting semi-final match the Chaos came out in the first set a little flat and tired losing 18-25. Switching sides on the court, the Chaos found renewed energy and excitement in game two winning 25-23 to force a third game to decide the winner of Ontario Provincial gold. In that game, the Chaos never trailed and came out victorious winning 15-11 to take the gold.
Up next for the Chaos is the Beast of the East tournament in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, May 24-26.
Incredible! Nice work Kelly.
