Tartans Tame Bobcats In Girls Rugby
The Wallaceburg Tartans hosted the Blenheim Bobcats, looking to redeem themselves after a big, 47-10 loss against UCC on Friday.
Wallaceburg came out strong in the first half, forcing the play to remain in the Bobcats end.
Halfway through the first half the sun managed to make its way out of the clouds helping to improve the field conditions.
Wallaceburg continued the pressure on Blenheim but the Bobcats tight defensive play kept the Tartan’s lead at 10 to nothing after the first half.
The Tartans maintained their strong play in the second getting another four tries and two, two point kicks. This helped the Tartans take a 34-0 victory over the Blenheim Bobcats.
Tartan’s head coach, Brett Campbell says Tuesday’s success was from finally coming together as a team.
“We really worked as a team,” says Campbell. “We finally worked well as a team and we started passing the ball, we started being more aggressive towards the ball and that has been our biggest improvement throughout this whole year.”
Although Tuesday’s game was a successful win for the Tartans, Campbell still expects his team to be more aggressive on the ball.
“We still need to play more aggressive with the ball,” stated Campbell. “That’s been the one thing that we sometimes wait a little too much on, but we still need to be bit more aggressive with ball. Other than that we are playing a fantastic style of rugby and I have been really happy with that.”
Wallaceburg will travel to Chatham on Friday to play the CKSS Golden Hawks.
