Cook’s Star In Pro Baseball Debut
Justin Cook and Matt Cook made their professional baseball debuts this week in the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs with the White Sands PupFish.
Facing the Roswell Invaders May 14, both Cook brothers played a vital role in helping their White Sands PupFish to a season opening 2-0 win.
Matt Cook pitched a sparkling six scoreless innings, allowing only three hits, and striking out four batters.
Justin Cook, at the plate, went 3 for 3, hitting three singles, and stealing a base in the game. Cook was hit by a pitch and scored his first run of the season May 15, in the PupFish’s second game, an 10-2 loss to the same Roswell team. He also had a run and stole base in the second game of his team’s double header that day, a 9-5 loss to Roswell. Cook is playing first base for the PupFish.
The Cook brothers, who hail from Dresden, Ontario, attended Madonna University, playing for the Crusaders last season in the NAIA.
