The Wallaceburg Red Devils are off to a strong start on their 2014 OLA Junior B season, and sit first in their division after splitting a pair of weekend games.

Saturday, the Red Devils picked up important divisional points against the London Blue Revils, winning 14-4.

“Started slow but poured it on in the 2nd and 3rd,” said head coach Jamie Knight. “Durst (Jordan Durston) had a solid game with some scoring from lots of players. Noble played really well for us but our defense played awesome as well. Four goals against is very solid. Emily (VanDamme) played the last 15 minutes of the game and played well also.”

Jordan Durston had a 10 points night, scoring 3 goals and adding 7 assists in the win to pace the Wallaceburg Red Devils. Mike Myers and Evan Mathany also had hat tricks for Wallaceburg, while Ryan Noel, Corey Lucier, Kyle Dawson, Mitch Gagnier, and Parker Gilhuly all scored singles.

Sunday, Wallaceburg dropped a close decision 7-4 to the Orangeville Northmen.

“Tough loss tonight for the boys,” said Knight. “It was a good gritty lacrosse game, we just waited too long to bring the intensity.”

Durson scored twice in the loss, while Mitch Gagnier and Mike Myers had the other Red Devils goals.

Wallaceburg will now prepare to face the Windsor Clippers in a huge divisional game Friday, before travelling to Welland Saturday.
