Tartans Stay Perfect Beating Bobcats

The Wallaceburg Tartans beat the Blenheim Bobcats Wednesday, to stay perfect in Kent Junior Football action, and to secure the first place seed entering next week’s playoffs.

Wallaceburg took a decisive 35-14 victory.

Trevor Bogaert had three touchdowns for Wallaceburg in the victory, with Brad Maxim and Jermaine Caldwell picking up the other majors. Bogaert had 117 rushing yards, Caldwell 114 and Maxim 95 against the Bobcats, who finished third in the Kent league.

Tanner Shuian had a rushing touchdown, and Jake Hansen a receiving touchdown for the Bobcats in the loss.

In other Kent football action, the UCC Lancers clinched second place with a 28-14 win over the John McGregor Panthers.

The teams will have a shorter turn around this week with the John McGregor Panthers, who finished fourth, travelling to Wallaceburg to face the Tartans Tuesday in one semi-final. In the other semi-final, Blenheim will take on the UCC Lancers, who both finished with an identical 2-2 record. This semi-final will also take place on Tuesday.

The winner of each semi will do battle on June 7 in the Kent final.
