Van Herk Golden In Windsor
14 year old Brendan Van Herk swam to victory with eleven personal best swim times over this three day swim meet, and was rewarded with ten podium finishes. Brendan won Gold in the 14 year old boys 50m Fly (27.95), 50 Back (30.41), 100m Back (1:05.71), 100m Fly (2:45.71), 200m I.M (2:22.14), and the 200m Breast (2:45.71).
Brendan Van Herk also won silver in each of the 100 Breast (1:16.27), 200m Back (2:23.36 ) and 400m I.M. events ( :04.76). Van Herk won bronze in the 200 m Fly (2:23.68) and narrowly missed the podium finishing in fourth in the 50m Breast (34.90).
Other top ten finishers include 10 year old Gracin Black who was tenth in the 100m Breast (01:52.96), Grace Hansen (13) who finished tenth in the 100m Breast (1:30.70), and Shania Van Herk (17) finished tenth in the 200m Back (2:34.37), who also narrowly missed the final for an eleventh place finish in the 100 m Back.
Emma Pegg, Delainey Johnson and River Pfaff all set new personal best times across multiple events this weekend. 20 year old Justine Van Herk swam with the team qualifying in ninth for finals in the 16 & over 50m Fly, however was not available to swim in the finals.
The team will travel to Western University May 9-11 for the Hollandia Long Course Invitational.
