Ridgetown’s Bryan Boersma will be close to home to finish his Junior hockey career, as the veteran defenseman has had his rights acquired by the Blenheim Blades of the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League.

Boersma has played three full seasons as a member of the Lambton Shores Predators Junior B franchise, which is located in Forest, Ontario.

“The main reason I decided to go down to Junior C is because I graduated school and took on a full time job, so I didn’t have the time to make the road trip to Lambton Shores,” says Boersma, who will still affiliate for the Predators throughout the 2014-2015 season.

“I wanted to go to Blenhiem because it’s my home town. I wanted it to be closer to play in front of my friends and family, it’s a fitting way to end my career.”

In 126 career games with Lambton Shores, the six-foot-five rearguard scored six goals and assisted on 10 more, while collecting 441 penalty minutes.

The Blenheim Blades training camp will open Monday, August 18 at the Blenheim arena.
