Tartans, Lancers To Meet In Kent Football Final
Wallaceburg, who has remained undefeated this season, took the 41-7 win over the Panthers.
“I think our defence did a great job on the pass and run protection and allowing the offence to get out on the field to push for good yards and to get touchdowns,” says Trevor Bogaert, who scored a 2-yard touchdown run in the first half of Tuesday’s win, and had a total of 78 rushing yards.
Parker Gilhuly had four touchdowns Tuesday, running in majors from 70-, 35-, 29-, and 6-yards. Jermaine Caldwell had the other Wallaceburg touchdown.
Wallaceburg will now face the UCC Lancers for the Kent final, and according to Bogaert, they’ll need to stay focused and positive heading into Saturday’s final, which will kick off at 1pm in Wallaceburg.
“For the Kent finals I think we just have to come in with a positive attitude and focus on our game plan,” says Bogaert.
UCC defeated the Blenheim Bobcats 24-7 in their semi-final to advance to the Kent championship. Mike Lewis, Ross Kreiger, and Owen Dorssers scored touchdowns for the Lancers in the win.
Game time for the Kent championship is Saturday, June 7, at 1pm.
