Less than one month after starring for Canada’s Cadette Basketball team at the U17 World Championships in the Czech Republic, Chatham’s Bridget Carleton will again find herself wearing the red and white, as she’s been named to Canada’s National Junior Basketball Team.

Carleton, who has been participating in training camp with the Junior team at Durham College in Oshawa this week, will continue training with the team as they prepare for the FIBA Americas Under-18 tournament, which will take place in Colorado Springs, Colorado from August 6-10.

Similar to the FIBA Americas U16 tournament, which Carleton captained Canada to a silver medal last summer in Mexico, qualifying her Nation for the recent U17 World Championships, this FIBA Americas tournament is a qualifier for the 2015 World Junior Championships.

The Canada’s Cadette team last month, Carleton was Canada’s leading scorer, averaging 14.4 points per game, and almost 6 rebounds per game.

The 17-year-old, who is entering grade 12 at John McGregor Secondary School, was one of only three players from her age group to be invited to the Junior National camp.

Carleton is committed to play NCAA Division I basketball for Iowa State in the 2015-2016 season.
