The Chatham-Kent Cougars Senior Varsity and Junior Varsity football teams both took wins on the weekend, both defeating the Niagara Storm.

For the Senior Cougars, it was their first OFC win of the season. Senior Varsity quarterback Jalen Butcher, a John McGregor student, had an outstanding game throwing for 295-yards, including five touchdown passes en route to the Cougars’ 44-0 victory.

Trevor Niven rounded out Chatham-Kent’s scoring kicking three field goals.

In the Junior Cougars’ game, Chatham-Kent took a 26-12 win over the Niagara Storm.

Kelton Evans threw three touchdown passes to Jake Anderson, while Spencer Mason had a TD on the ground. Ethan Baylis rushed for over 100 yards and Clay Shreve had more than 100 yards receiving.

“It was a great team effort, with the boys showing heart in a game that meant nothing for us other then pride, they all stepped up when challenged to do so,” Head Coach Kevin Pugh stated of the win.

The Senior Cougars and Junior Cougars will face the Burlington Stampeders to close out their season next weekend.
