The annual Wallaceburg WAMBO church service will have a special guest this year, as Steve Kearns will make an appearance at the event to speak.

Kearns currently works for Athletes in Action, and is the chaplain for the Toronto Raptors, Hamilton Tiger Cats, and Toronto FC.

“We are excited to have Steve Kearns come to Wallaceburg and speak at the Wambo Interdenominational Service because he can relate to the people of our community who love sports and be able to share with them the importance of excellence in sport and in faith,” says Reverend Rob Bowning, a member of the WAMBO Committee.

“This would be an excellent opportunity to hear the life story and meet a professional athlete and hear about the challenges he faced and how he overcame them.”

Born and raised in Brazil, Kearns has multiple degrees from Liberty University, and is a former Canadian Football League (CFL) player, suiting up for the BC Lions and Hamilton Tiger Cats for six seasons from 1980 until 1986.

The interdenominational church servive will take place from 10am-11:30am on Sunday, August 10, in the James Street Municipal Parking lot in Downtown Wallaceburg.
