Two local pros, Wes Cunningham of Dresden, and Jamie Vanderveeken of Wallaceburg have signed in Ligue Magnus, France’s top professional hockey league to play next season.

Cunningham, who spent last season as an assistant captain with the ECHL’s Bakersfield Condors, signed ith the Rouen Dragons.

Vanderveeken, who played in the CHL last year with the Brampton Beast, signed with the Amiens Gothics. Vanderveeken had a solid season with the expansion Beast scoring 41-points, good for sixth among league scoring for defenseman.

Cunningham, a former ECHL All-Star, who has spent time in the AHL during his five year professional career as well, had 26-points for the Condors. Cunningham has signed to play with the Dragons de Rouen.

For both players, it’s not their first go around in Europe as Cunningham spent 2012-2013 in Norway, while Vanderveeken split the 2011-2012 season between Italy and England.
