Brady Pataki Signs With The OHL’s Sudbury Wolves
Pataki was chosen in the 4th round by Sudbury with the 65th overall pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection Draft, and will be counted on to step directly into the Wolves’ lineup this season.
“I am very excited about playing in the OHL for the Sudbury Wolves,” said Pataki in a Sudbury Wolves news release.
“It has been a dream-come-true for me to play in the OHL and develop my skills with the hopes of playing professional hockey one day. Sudbury is recognized with having some great players play for their program over the years and many of them are playing in the NHL today. I look forward to developing my skills and contributing to the success of the Sudbury Wolves during my OHL career,” continued Pataki.
Playing for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget ‘AAA’ team last season, Pataki, who stands six-foot-three, and doesn’t turn 16 until October, had 5 goals and 8 games in 31 regular season games, before topping all Chatham-Kent scorers with 13 goals in 18 playoff games.
Pataki played a dominant, power forward role at the OHL Cup, leading his Cyclones to the semi-final, scoring 8 points in only 6 games against the Province’s top competition at his age group.
After his ‘AAA’ season ended, Pataki represented Team Alliance at the OHL Gold Cup.
According to the Wolves, Pataki will add important size to their lineup in his rookie season.
“He would be considered a power forward who is very strong physically and is very competitive,” said Sudbury Wolves head scout Andrew Shaw in a Wolves’ news release following the OHL Draft. “Brady excelled down the stretch and in the playoffs for the Cyclones and is a very hard player to play against because of the way he competes. Pataki will definitely add size and competitiveness to our team.”
Pataki joins former teammate Joseph Raaymakers, as the second Chatham-Kent Cyclones player from last seasons Minor Midget roster to sign with their respective OHL team this summer, as Raaymakers inked with the Soo Greyhounds.
Pataki will join the Sudbury Wolves for their main camp, which begins August 28.
