Former Wallaceburg Lakers forward Ryan Gruszka has signed with the NOJHL’s Cochrane Crunch for the 2014-2015 season.

Gruszka, a Belle River, Ontario product, started last season with the Wallaceburg Lakers of the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League, scoring 38-points in only 26 games.

“I am really, really excited to join such a professionally run organization,” said Gruszka in a Cochrane Crunch news release. “I have never had the chance to be involved with such a High-End organization. Making the decision to come to play in Cochrane was pretty easy. My dad spent some time in Cochrane and he had nothing but nice things to say about the town and it’s people so it was a pretty easy decision to make.”

Gruszka left the Lakers midseason when he signed with the Lambton Shores Predators Junior B team of the GOJHL, where he played 16 games, scoring 2 goals and adding 5 assists.

For Gruszka, the move was made to help him reach his ultimate goal of an NCAA or CIS scholarship.

The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) is a part of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), which spans across Canada. Last season, Cochrane played as the Elliott Lake Bobcats before relocating.
