Hockey season is back. That fact was made clear this week as droves of hockey hopefuls flooded rinks in every corner of Chatham-Kent to try-out for local Junior C and Junior B clubs, while others headed off to OHL camps across the province.

Here at home, the Blenheim Blades kicked off camp Monday, welcoming veterans and prospects to the rink. Along with the Blades, the Wheatley Sharks were also well into their camp, offering multiple skates for prospects this week.

The Dresden Kings also kicked off their camp Monday at Thames Campus in Chatham, and will host their annual Maroon and White game Friday, August 22 at 7:30pm at Thames Campus in Chatham, before their camp moves to Dresden next week.

The Wallaceburg Lakers are the final local team to open their main camp, as they’ll hold camp Saturday, August 23, and Sunday, August 24 at Memorial Arena in Chatham. The Lakers are still seeking prospects to attend their camp, and are asking anyone interested to contact general manager Brian Griffith at (519) 359-9884.
