Rivard Leaves Sharks For Lambeth Lancers
The forward, an Ursuline College Chatham graduate, has signed with the Lambeth Lancers of the Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League, a Junior C loop in the London area. Rivard will be attending Fanshawe College in London, making Lambeth an ideal destination. His new team however, is also happy to add a veteran player to their lineup.
“Our staff has heard nothing but positive feedback about Eric on and off the ice,” says Lambeth Lancers Director of Hockey Operations Chris Yandt.
“We believe he is a character guy who plays with a lot of heart and will provide leadership on and off the ice. He has the potential to put up big offensive numbers and we will give him every opportunity to do so. He will be a big part in our goal to get back to the SOJHL finals for the fourth straight year,” continued Yandt.
Rivard, joined the Wheatley Sharks in 2011-2012 after captaining the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget ‘AAA’ team the year prior. He’s grateful to the Sharks for his time in Wheatley, but also to Lambeth, for giving him a new opportunity going forward.
“Need to thank the Wheatley Sharks and Lambeth Lancers for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love,” said Rivard. “Lambeth is giving me an opportunity to continue to play while I further my education in London this year.”
In his three seasons with the Wheatley Sharks, Rivard has accumulated 19 goals and 40 points in 113 regular season games, and 12 points in 29 playoff games.
In 2013-2014, the Lambeth Lancers were the SOJHL regular season champions, finishing with a 31-8-1 record.
