Shepley Improves MMA Record
Facing Michigan’s Dominic Dobbins (0-0), fighting out of MASH gym located in Michigan, Shepley and Dobbins took the fight 2 rounds before the referee called a TKO due to large cut on Dobbins’ nose from a Shepley blow. The fight went back and forth both rounds with Shepley landing more punch combinations, leg kicks, and controlling the clinch, en route to improving his MMA record to 2-0.
Nick Whittal also fought on the card for his first Submission only match. He fought Randall Mccomas of MASH gym and won by standing guillotine at beginning of match when Mccomas tried for a takedown.
Whittal then moved on to fight Marco Smallman, a Michigan grappling champion fighting out of FC Fitness Academy in Waterford, Michigan. The match went back and forth with Smallman having good takedown and submission defense while Whittal maintained a strong guard position to end the match in a draw due to no submissions.
Next up for Gracie Barra Chatham fighters is the GTA Classic in Brampton, Ontario on September 13 for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitors. Gracie Barra Chatham’s Josh “The Ripper” Rich will also compete in his third professional MMA bout in London this October as a part of the Professional Fighting Championships.
