The Chatham Maroons had only a few decisions left, one in their most important position, netminding, and it looks like the team is now set.

Chatham signed North York, Ontario product Bo Bessette, who comes with substantial Junior experience, having spent the last three seasons playing in the OJHL and OHL.

Last season, Bessette split time between the St. Michaels Buzzers and Newmarket Hurricanes in the OJHL. In 38 games last season, Bessette had a 15-14-3-1 record, collecting four shutouts, with a save percentage of more than .900.

Standing six-foot-two, the OJHL scouting report on Bessette as having “the ability to carry a team to victory on his own. A big body that stays square to shooters, Bo gives up very little for the opposition to shoot at.”

Bessette also played two games in the OHL for the Niagara Ice Dogs in 2012-2013.

Bessette will split time with Jacob Lucier, who played last season in the Junior A CCHL with Kemptville and Junior C with the Belle River Canadiens.

The Chatham Maroons also signed Swedish forward Carl Stapleton.

In other Junior B news, it appears Brendan Harrogate, a Chatham product is close to signing with the LaSalle Vipers after Chatham was forced to part with the 16-year-old due to not possessing an extra underage card for the skilled forward.
