Essex 73s Shutout Wallaceburg

After starting their season 0-2 for the first time in recent memory, the Essex 73s got back to .500 Wednesday night shutting out the Wallaceburg Lakers 4-0 in Wallaceburg.

After a scoreless first period, Eric Shaw opened the scoring for the 73s early in the second period, scoring a goal which would hold up as the eventual game winner. Tyler Scott put insurance on the board for Essex before the second frame was out.

In the third, Nick Mainella scored a pair of goals to cap off the scoring.

Essex and Wallaceburg went back and forth in the game, with with the shots narrowly in Essex’s favour, 30-29.

Lakers goaltender Joel Sowinski took the loss in net.

Wallaceburg is now off for a full week until they host the Wheatley Sharks next Wednesday, September 24.
