The 2014 stock car racing season at South Buxton Raceway comes to a close with the return of the Canadian Fall Shootout this Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s action will be highlighted by the Tirecraft Mini-Mods season championship race, postponed by rain last Saturday.

Blenheim’s Trevor Jones will try to be the fifth points champion to also win the season championship race. Jones clinched the point title after the Sept. 13 race night. He will start on the first row of the 20-lap championship with Chatham’s John Pinsonneault.

Chatham’s Eren Vanderiviere completed the title sweep last Saturday in the Tirecraft Mini-Mods.
Ridgetown’s Dale Glassford (Westside Performance Plus UMP Late Models), Leamington’s Joel Dick (Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modifieds) and Blenheim’s Jeff Schives (Autotech Bombers) also won their division points and championship races.

Also on Friday night’s program will be the two-round qualifying heat races for the UMP Late Models and Modifieds plus heats and a feature race for the Ohsweken Crate Sprints.

Saturday will be the big night, with the ‘A’ Mains for the Late Models ($3,000 to win) and Modifieds ($2,000 to win), while the Mini-Mods and Sport Stocks will both run $1,000-to-win features.

The Shootout began in 2005 as an end-of-season UMP Late Model show, with the Modifieds added in 2008.
The Shootout returns after a one-year hiatus.

The gates open at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. both nights.

Visit www.southbuxtonraceway.com for admission price, including a special two-night package. The rain date is Sunday.
