Five Questions With Tye Belanger
The 24-year-old currently plays for the NLL’s Colorado Mammoth, MSL’s Brampton Excelsiors, and OLA’s Sarnia Beavers.
A Mooretown product, Belanger currently lives in Wallaceburg, where he coached the Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse Intermediate Girls team this season.
Below are Tye Belanger’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions:
1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?
Being selected in the second round of the 2011 NLL Draft. Then becoming a member of the Colorado Mammoth.
2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?
My favourite team is the Minnesota Wild. Favourite athlete is former Mammoth goalie Gee Nash.
3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?
To win either the Champions Cup and/or Mann Cup.
4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?
Biggest influence would be my former teammate and best friend Jordan VanDamme. We had so much fun playing lacrosse together back in our minor days. That was when I found my love and passion for the game of lacrosse. I couldn’t wait to even get to practices because we would just enjoy every moment on the floor. Without the friendship I developed with Jordan, I don’t believe I’d be playing lacrosse professionally as I would have never found the “war on the floor” type sport appealing.
5. What do you love most about playing sports?
I enjoy the competitiveness of sports. Going into competition against another opponent that has the same goal as you; to win. The feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction after a victory keeps me drawn to sports.
Five Questions is a weekly feature on the Chatham-Kent Sports Network. We’ll ask athletes from across Chatham-Kent Five Questions, and post their answers every week.
