The Wallaceburg Lakers couldn’t reel in the Wheatley Sharks, as the Sharks handed the host, Wallaceburg Lakers a 8-2 defeat at Memorial Arena Wednesday night.

Jimmy Ciacelli opened the scoring for Wheatley in the first, with Frankie Ciacelli and Scott Florence assisting.

Calyn Kir would continue the Sharks’ control of the scoreboard, potting a pair of goals to put the road team ahead 3-0, before Wallaceburg’s Cory Lucier scored to get the Lakers on the board.

In the second period, Antonio Ciampa and Brian Johnson both scored for the Wheatley Sharks, helping the Sharks open up a 5-1 lead.

The third period saw Frankie White score on the powerplay for the Lakers to close the gap to 5-2, but Jimmy Ciacelli would end the game the same way he started it, scoring a goal with assists going to Florence and Frankie Ciacelli. Florence finished the game with three assists. Jimmy Ciacelli capped off his hat trick, while Johnson scored his second of the game to finish the scoring.

The Wallaceburg Lakers are back on the ice, looking for their first win of the season, this Friday when they travel to Dresden to face the Kings. Wheatley is also on the road Friday facing the Lakeshore Canadiens.
