It’s strange to see a team who opened the GOJHL season 3-0, now sitting at 2-2-1; but that’s exactly where the Chatham Maroons sit.

After being forced to forfeit an early season win against Leamington, the Maroons struggled over the weekend, falling 5-4 to Lambton Shores Saturday in overtime, before dropping a 7-5 decision to the Sarnia Legionnaires Sunday at home.

Chatham went goal-for-goal with Sarnia in the first period, as the flood gates opened and each team poured in three. Chatham got goals from Brayden Hopkins, Trevor Richardson, and Brennan Feasey to keep the game 3-3. Feasey would finish the game with three points.

In the second period, Steven Beenackers opened the scoring to put Chatham ahead, but their lead would be short lived as the Legionnaires scored a quick pair to go up 5-4 heading to the third.

The third period went much the same as the second, with the Maroons scoring first, on a goal by Ian Faubert, followed by a pair of Sarnia goals.

Chatham travels to London Wednesday, before hosting the St. Marys Lincolns next Sunday.
