After gaining a 3-0 lead over the Lambton Shores Predators on the road, the Chatham Maroons couldn’t hold on for the win, allowing the Predators to claw back for a 5-4 shootout win.

Brayden Hopkins opened the scoring, before Brennan Feasey scored a pair to put Chatham ahead 3-0, a lead they held until midway through the second period.

Brett Corrigan would start Lambton Shores’ comeback, before Ryan Fraser scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at 3.

After Feasey scored his hat trick goal, it looked as though the Maroons would edge out the win, until Sarnia Sting draft pick Franco Sproveiro scored with less the 3-minutes remaining to send the game to overtime.

With the extra frame solving nothing, the teams went to a shootout, where 16-year-olds Sean Ross and Franco Sproveiro scored for the Predators to take the 5-4 win.

Lambton Shores features Chatham-Kent hockey players Drew Marlatt, Ty Jackson, and Nick Delyzer, as well as Anthony Hurtubise, who played for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones last season, as well as former Cyclone and Wallaceburg Laker DJ Sapone, and Mike Zottl, who played for the Lakers last year.

Chatham outshot Lambton Shores 41-28 in the loss, with Jacob Lucier playing net for the Maroons.

Chatham will now host the Sarnia Legionnaires Sunday night at Memorial Arena.
