With the Chatham Maroons depth returning this season, they were looking not to rebuild a roster, but to add a few pieces for a deep playoff run.

Sarnia’s Brett Storr, who signed with the Maroons this offseason, hopes he can be one pieces.

“I think as a team everyone is looking forward to bringing back a championship to Chatham and hopefully a run at the Sutherland,” says Storr, who played Junior A in the NOJHL last season. “I bring a little bit of experience to an already fairly old squad, and some versatility to help chip in wherever I can.”

Last season, Storr played 54 games in the NOJHL, splitting time between the North Bay Trappers, and the Espanola Rivermen, collecting 12 assists on the year. Prior to playing in the NOJHL, Storr, known for his smooth skating transitional game, spent the 2012-2013 season with the Wallaceburg Lakers of the Great Lakes Junior C hockey league.

For now though, Storr is happy to be closer to home, giving him more time to focus on his education, while still making an impact on the ice.

“Signing with a team close to home is great, because it allows me to bump up my schooling and get ready for post secondary, and feel comfortable about where I am,” says Storr.

The Chatham Maroons begin their 2014 GOJHL season Friday in St. Thomas, and return home, Sunday, September 14, when they host the Leamington Flyers at 7pm.
