Wallaceburg’s Shaun Suisham has had a run for the record books, spanning back to last November, with the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers.

The kicker broke the Pittsburgh Steelers’ record for most consecutive field goals without a miss this past Sunday in a 37-19 Steelers win over the Carolina Panthers.

Suisham, who was named a team captain for the Steelers prior to the start of the 2014-2015 season, went 3-for-3 in Sunday’s game against the Panthers, extending his streak to 23 consecutive field goals, breaking former kicker Jeff Reed’s record of 22.

In the second quarter of Sunday’s game, Suisham kicked field goal number 23, connecting on a 45-yard kick, which broke Reed’s record of 22 straight kicks.

This season, Suisham is 8-for-8, and has proven himself as one of the game’s most consistent kickers, which he was rewarded for in the offseaosn, signing a four year contract extension with the Steelers.

Suisham and the Steelers will next host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday, September 28 at 1pm at Heinz Field.
