In Blenheim, the Blades signed defenseman Mackenzie Dick. Dick has spent parts of two seasons with the Blenheim Blades, including 16 games last season, when he chipped in 3 assists for the Blades. A West Lorne product, Dick has also seen time with the GOJHL’s St. Thomas Stars.
A towering defender, at six-foot-three, Dick adds to an already imposing Blades blueline, which features six-foot-five and six-foot-one Junior B veterans Bryan Boersma and Ben Pataki, who have each played three-plus seasons in the GOJHL before returning to Blenheim.
Blenheim also signed Lucas Hickey, a defenseman from Omemee, Ontario, who played Junior C last season with the Little Britain Merchants in the Central Ontario Junior Hockey League. Hickey, who will attend St. Clair College, had 2 goals and 9 assists, along with 56 penalty minutes, in 38 games with the Merchants last season.
At the Junior B level, the GOJHL’s Chatham Maroons committed to one of their two underage cards, signing Pain Court defenseman Levi Tetrault.
Tetrault, who recently transferred to Chatham-Kent Secondary School, where he’s entering grader 11, was a 4th round selection by the Guelph Storm in last years OHL draft, after captaining the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget ‘AAA’ team to the semi-final of the OHL Cup.
Last season, Tetrault had 25 points in 48 regular season and playoff games. He is expected to fill a depth role with the Maroons, who boast a veteran blueline filled by 20-year-olds. Tetrault is considered a top prospect to join the OHL’s Guelph Storm next season.
