The Dresden Kings hosted the Wheatley Sharks Friday, for an all Chatham-Kent matchup in the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League. It was Wheatley however, who controlled the ice doubling up on the Dresden Kings 6-3.

Rookie Nolan Gardiner of Tilbury, who was an Ottawa 67s draft pick last spring, scored to put the Sharks ahead in what would be a back as forth first period.

Taylor Sisson and Dillon Liberty put Dresden back in the game, with Ross Krieger assisting on both, before Antonio Ciampa tied the game for Wheatley.

Before the period was out however, Kevin Ritzer would score for the Kings to again put them ahead.

From the second period on, it was all Wheatley, starting with Scott Florence’s second period goal to tie the game.

In the third, Jimmy Ciacelli, Calyn Kir, and Dylan Enns piled in goals to cap off the Sharks’ 6-3 win.

Wheatley hosts the Essex 73s Saturday, while Dresden travels to Mooretown.
