Allison Boulanger Learns Field Game At Brock
Allison Boulanger had never played field lacrosse prior to arriving at Brock University this season, but that hasn’t stopped the Wallaceburg resident from making an impact with the Brock Badgers women’s field lacrosse team.
“My first season of field lacrosse has been great,” says Boulanger. “Brock has such great coaches who made my transition from box to field so much easier. They truly took a chance on me, since I had no prior field experience. Bring a part of this team has been unbelievable. Hard work, but so worth it.”
Boulanger, an Ursuline College Chatham graduate, helped the Wallaceburg Griffins Intermediate Girls win Provincial “B” silver this past summer, and a provincial “C” gold with the Intermediate Boys team. According to Boulanger, her time developing in Wallaceburg, and the coaches she had, allowed her to make the step into OUA lacrosse.
“Growing up in Wallaceburg has helped me so much,” says Boulanger. “Everyone is so passionate about the game and we have such great programs that it was hard not to love it too. Also, coaches like Jason Fox, who challenged me to play for two teams this summer have really helped make me a better player. All in all, it’s the people who have gone through the minor lax program and are giving back to it who have made the biggest difference in my lacrosse career,” added Boulanger, whose Brock Badgers team is vying for the top spot in the OUA, as one of only two remaining undefeated teams.
For Boulanger, who is studying kinesiology at Brock, her first season of OUA lacrosse has been filled with challenges, but none too big to overcome.
“I love university and I’m so glad I chose Brock, it’s really great being a Badger,” says Boulanger. It’s lots of fun, but also lots of hard work.”
