Blenheim Blast Golden At Fall Invitational
Shania Van Herk (17) topped the podium with four gold medals for the Blenheim Blast in the Women’s’ 15-18 year old age category. Shania won the 100m (1:01.13) and 200m (2:15.42) Freestyle events, and the 50m (31.65) and 100m (1:07.12) Backstroke events. Team mate Rain Pfaff (15) shared the podium winning silver for the Blast in the 50m (33.10) and 100m (1:10.89) Back events. Shania also won silver in the 50m Fly finishing in a time of 30.21, with Rain winning bronze finishing third in a time of 32.11 Rain dominated the breast stroke events, winning gold in both the 15-18 year old women’s 50m (36.43) and 100m (1:22.64) Breast events. Rain also finished fifth in the 50m Free.
Brendan Van Herk (15) won gold in the men’s 15-18 year old 50m (28.11) and 100m Fly (1:03.77) events. Brendan also won silver in the 100m Back (1:03.03) and 200m IM (2:17.62) events. Brendan was third in the 200m back, and fourth in the 200m Freestyle.
Delainey Johnson won gold in the 14 year old girls’ 50m Fly winning the race in 37.85. She also won silver in the 50m Back event in 38.5. Johnson had two other top ten finishes with a fifth place finish in the 100m Back (1:22.41) and ninth in the 200m Free event. Jill Clendenning (14) also had two top ten finishes, finishing fourth in the 50m Back (39.55) and seventh in the 100m Free (1:16.365).
13-year-old Grace Hansen won silver in the 100m Breast finishing in a time of 1:27.85. Hansen also won bronze in the 100m Free (1:10.62) and was fourth in the 50m Fly (34.15). 10 year old Georgia Blackshaw won silver in the 10 & under 50m Fly in a time of 1:00.98. Georgia was also fifth in the 50m Back (55.55).
The entire Blenheim Blast team will participate in the next SEAL meet November 16 hosted by the Pool Sharks at the Chatham YMCA.
