After being passed over in the OHL draft last year, and again this season by his hometown Junior teams while looking for a roster spot, Merlin’s Nick Delyzer landed a coveted 16-year-old spot with the GOJHL’s Lambton Shores Predators.

Bypassing many of his peers, Delyzer, who starred for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget ‘AAA’ team last year is proud to suit up for the Predators, and is looking to prove his critics wrong.

“I feel honoured after what has happened lately,” explains Delyzer about his recent fortunes and misfortunes.
After being passed up at the OHL draft in April I’ve been really motivated lately and really hungry to show the OHL teams that they made a mistake.”

Making his debut this past weekend with the Lambton Shores Predators, Delyzer, a Merlin resident, is happy to be a part of the young Predators.

“I’m really looking forward for the upcoming season,” says Delyzer. “The Preds got a great group of guys and also a great coaching staff. I’m really excited for this new journey, and now the real hard work starts.”

Delyzer and the Lambton Shores Predators, who currently sit fourth in the GOJHL’s Western Conference, head back to the ice this weekend for a pair of games against St. Marys and LaSalle.
