Dawson Gehl is a 16-year-old volleyball player from Thamesville, Ontario.

Gehl competes for the Chatham Ballhawks, as well as the UCC Lancers where he is currently in grade 11. An accomplished beach and hard court volleyball player, Gehl has represented Region 3’s Team Ontario entry at the Ontario Winter and Summer games.

Below are Dawson Gehl‘s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions about sports:

1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?

OMHA Major Novice Champions & Silver at the Ontario Winter Games with my Region 3 Team.

2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?

The New Jersey Devils (from past years of playing hockey), and Leonel Marshall Jr. (Cuban National Volleyball Team).

3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?

Winning a CIS Volleyball Championship.

4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?

My family. They are always at all of my games to cheer me on, and are always there to give me a positive outlook when a game doesn’t go the way I want, and I couldn’t do any of it without them.

5. What do you love most about playing sports?

What I love most about playing sports is being part of a team, having the desire to win and be the best that I can be, all while having fun.

Five Questions is a weekly feature on the Chatham-Kent Sports Network. We’ll ask athletes from across Chatham-Kent Five Questions, and post their answers every week. If you know an athlete or coach we should question, or you’re an athlete or coach who would like to participate in “Five Questions,” please email us at ian@cksn.ca.
