Muzzatti Scores OT Winner For Blades
Dresden controlled the first period, outshooting the Blades 16-5, and outscoring the road team 2-0 with goals from Derek Daly and Steven Funk.
The second period however, was a complete reversal, as the Blenheim Blades started peppering Kings netminder Scott Tricker. Zach Horvath, who has been an unstoppable force recently for the Blades, collecting 14 points in his last 5 games, opened the scoring for Blenheim with assists going to Derek and Dylan Muzzatti.
Dylan Muzzatti then scored to tie the game, with Horvath and Nolan VandenBoorn assisting on the play.
With both goaltenders standing their ground in the third period, overtime was needed.
After a penalty to Dresden’s Johnny Montgomery with only 2:11 remaining in the extra frame, the Blades went on the powerplay, and brought out their big guns. Only moments later, Dylan Muzzatti pounded home a rebound to end the game, with Horvath, and Teddy McGeen picking up assists on the play.
Blenheim’s busy weekend continues as they travel to Wheatley Saturday night and host Amherstburg Sunday. The Dresden Kings visit Alvinston Saturday night, and then travel to Essex Tuesday.
