Verboom Lifts Maroons To Lopsided Win

The Chatham Maroons got back on track Sunday night pounding the last place St. Marys Lincolns 6-0 at Memorial Arena.

Maroons captain Michael Verboom had four points including a hat trick in the game to lead Chatham to a the win.

On the powerplay in the first, Verboom slid a beautiful back door cross crease pass to Connor Annett, who sliding in from the point pounded home Chatham’s first goal of the game.

Verboom then scored a pair of his own in the first period, both from in tight to put Chatham up 3-0 after the first.

In the second period, Steven Beenackers kept things going for the Marooons, scoring his third goal of the season.

Trevor Richardson then stripped a St. Marys defenseman and walked in on a breakaway sliding the puck through the Lincolns netminder, who faced a barrage of 46 shots on the night to make it 5-0.

Only a minute later, Michael Verboom closed out the scoring, capping off his hat trick, and ending the scoring. Alex Morgan and Brennan Feasey each had three assists in the win.

Bo Bessette made 19-saves for the shutout.

Chatham travels to LaSalle this Wednesday before taking part in the GOJHL Showcase October 11 and 12.
