The Wallaceburg Lakers kept the Mooretown Flags lower in the standings, and lowered the Flags all in the same night, as the Lakers won their fourth straight home game Wednesday, defeating Mooretown 4-1.

Wallaceburg, who was sitting in 8th place in the Great Lakes Junior C League, facing the 8th place Mooretown Flags, kept Mooretown in the league basement, and leap frogged Alvinston into 7th place.

Frankie White opened the scoring for the Wallaceburg Lakers in the opening period of the game, with Bronson Bea and Jeff Brown assisting just over a minute into the game.

In the second frame, Cory Lucier, with assisting going to Evan Weidenbach and Jordan Eagan, kept things going for Wallaceburg. Minutes later, Lucais Meyskens would extend Wallaceburg’s lead even further, scoring an unassisted marker to make the score 3-0.

Trevor Waller made it 4-0 Wallaceburg, with Meyskens and Matt Clark assisting in the third period. Mooretown would get one back, but Joel Sowinski shut the door in net, and the Lakers defense stepped up to end the game 4-1. Sowinski made 22 saves in the win.

Wallaceburg has a week off before they host the Amherstburg Admirals next Wednesday, November 5, as they try to extend their home winning streak.
