Chatham’s Adam Kaminski is saying goodbye to his time with Canada’s National men’s volleyball program, as he announced his retirement from the National Team program this week.

“The highlight of my time with the national team would definitely be the fact of going into ‘work’ everyday, doing something I loved, with a group of people all working towards a common and ultimate goal,” said Kaminski of his career with the National Team in a Volleyball Canada news release. “Although I feel my goal was not achieved, I hope that the work put in over the years will be stepping stones to assist others in succeeding.”

“And although my playing days may be over, the love for the sport still remains and I hope to pass the passion and knowledge on to others, in hopes that someday they may experience the unforgettable years of wearing the maple leaf proudly on their chest,” continued Kaminski in his statement. “There are no words to express my thanks to all the players, coaches, staff, and supporters who, over the years, taught me so much and moulded me into the person I am today.”

A graduate of the University of Alberta, and Ursuline College Chatham, Kaminski has spent several seasons playing professionally in Europe, including in Poland, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic, and now plans to pursue a career in engineering.

“Adam has been one of the most focused athletes I’ve had the chance to work with,” said Team Canada men’s volleyball head coach Glenn Hoag in the Volleyball Canada release about Adam Kaminski. “During his years with the program, he grew to become an excellent player. He left a great legacy of smart playing and shared his assets with our staff of middle blockers, especially the younger ones. I want to wish Adam luck in his future endeavours.”
