The Chatham Maroons continue to have the first place, Sarnia Legionnaires number, as the Maroons edged Sarnia 4-3 Thursday night. The game was played in Sarnia, in front of a large home crowd of more than 1,300.

Jared Dennis had a strong night for the Chatham Maroons, opening the scoring for the Maroons in the first period off a feed from Brennan Feasey and Steven Beenackers.

Sarnia would find life in the first period however, as the Legionnaires bounced back for a pair of goals, good enough to hold a 2-1 lead after one.

In the second, Trevor Richardson scored to even the game, before Jared Dennis scored his second goal of the game to give Chatham the lead.

After Cody Trowell, a former Chatham-Kent Cyclones sniper, and reigning GOJHL Western Conference Offensive Player of the Month tied the game yet again scoring for Sarnia, Brayden Hopkins scored what would stand as the game winner for Chatham.

Dennis picked up an assist on Hopkins’ game winner, finishing his night with two goals and an assist.
