The Strathroy Rockets halted the Chatham Maroons win streak, which had spanned to seven games, edging the hometown Maroons Sunday at Memorial Arena.

After Strathroy opened the scoring, Chatham responded back as Michael Verboom slid a nifty pass to Trevor Richardson, who finished off the play, tying the game at one. Brennan Feasey picked up his first of three assists for the night on the play.

Strathroy would re-take their lead in the second period, with Eddie Schulz scoring the only goal of the frame.

In the third, Chatham looked to be in control, opening the period with a pair of goals to take the lead.

Verboom opened the scoring, followed by Richardson potting his second of the game.

Midway through the third however, things would go downhill for the Maroons, as Strathroy first scored shorthanded to tie the game, and then, with only 13-seconds remaining in the game, Nick Boyer scored to lift Strathroy to the win, snapping Chatham’s streak.

Chatham will now play a home and home with the London Nationals, travelling to London on Wednesday, before hosting the Nationals next Sunday at Memorial Arena.
