Mighty Mo-roons Join Movember Movement

Movember-HockeyThe Chatham Maroons are beginning to don their best moustaches for a great cause. The aptly nicknamed “Mo-roons” started with a fresh shave on November 1st and will continue to grow their mo’s until the end of the month. For the duration of Movember, the Maroons are on a mission to raise the most money they possibly can to support research of men’s illnesses but they need your help.

The Maroons are working in alliance with The Movember Foundation. To improve and save the lives of men living with testicular cancer, prostate cancer and mental health issues, The Movember Foundation has raised hundreds of millions of dollars. The foundation started out as a simple effort to raise awareness for men’s illnesses when two friends in Australia dreamt up the idea in a bar. Now Movember happens in over twenty countries and with your support, will only continue to grow and make an even greater impact on eradicating these illnesses.

In addition to working with The Movember Foundation, the Maroons are part of a network of recreational hockey teams raising money for Movember. They’re in a competition with other hockey teams across Ontario to raise the most money and create the most awareness. The Maroons are also having a competition amongst their teammates to see who can grow the best moustache and who can get the greatest amount of donations.

The competitions don’t stop there however; as the Maroons are asking fans to get involved by growing their own mo’s. The Maroons will be looking for the best fan-grown moustaches and will be giving out prizes. You can share your own moustache on their Mospace or even a friend’s moustache for a chance to win.

Last but certainly not least, on November 30th at the Maroons’ home game against St. Thomas the Maroons will be hosting a Movember Awareness night.

As the fight against these illnesses is only going to be won through a group effort, the Maroons have banded together as a whole team to improve the lives of men living with these illnesses. Every member of the team is set up on Mospace and will be working their hardest to raise awareness. The Maroons are changing their
