Outlaw Day To Showcase Girls Hockey
The event, which will run Saturday, will feature 9 games from a variety of Outlaws age groups and levels.
“Hopefully it will get some attention to our club and generate more interest in Girls Hockey in Chatham,” says Chris Hyatt, Community Liaison and Media Director for the Chatham Outlaws, who also stated the event is designed, “to showcase the talent that we have in Chatham.”
“Mainly we wanted to show our appreciation to all the players, coaches, and volunteers that make our Outlaws program and Female Hockey in general a success year in and year out,” added Hyatt. “So the idea of an Outlaw Day Celebration was born.”
Games will begin Saturday morning at Thames Campus Arena in Chatham, with the Novice Chatham Outlaws Rep team facing Lucan at 9:30am, and run until 8:15pm, when Chatham’s two Intermediate teams will play.
A feature game on the schedule is the Chatham Outlaws Midget ‘AA’ team, which features a number of NCAA and OUA prospects, who will play London at 5pm.
The Outlaw Day event replaces Chatham’s annual girls hockey tournament, which has seen declining interest in past seasons, as teams choose destinations outside Chatham-Kent with newer arenas with additional amenities.
