The John McGregor Panthers capped off their perfect season this past weekend in Senior Girls ‘AA’ basketball, defeating the Wallaceburg Tartans to capture the first ever LKSSAA basketball championship.

The Panthers, who were a perfect 10-0 in regular season play, facing AA, AAA, and AAAA schools, dominated the court Saturday, defeating the Wallaceburg Tartans 66-31.

As she has all season, Bridget Carleton paced the Panthers, scoring 24-points in the win, with Laura Polowick contributing an impressive 16-point performance.

In the losing effort, the Wallaceburg Tartans were led by Sawyer Fischer who had 9-points, and Alyssa Lucier, with 7-points.

John McGregor will now prepare for a SWOSSAA game against the top Windsor-Essex team. In the AAA-AAAA final, Sarnia St. Patrick’s defeated Sarnia Northern 47-42.

On Friday, the JMSS Panthers Junior Boys Volleyball team also captured a LKSSAA title, defeating WDSS three games straight, 25-19, 25-15, 25-19.
