Quarters Upset Ousts Panthers
The John McGregor Panthers senior girls basketball team were the favourite ending this weeks OFSAA ‘AA’ basketball championship in Kingsville, Ontario.
Entering as the number one seed, the Panthers were expected to go all the way. That however, didn’t happen as the JMSS Panthers were upset in the quarter-finals in a 40-39 defeat to 8th ranked LaSalle of Sudbury, Ontario.
Bridget Carleton scored 25-points in the loss for the Panthers.
JMSS was the LKSSAA and SWOSSAA champion, and also won each tournament they entered this season.
Earlier Friday, JMSS beat Hebrew Academy 68-38 paced by Carleton’s 30-points.
Thursday, McGregor beat Dr. J.M. Denison 59-36, again paced by a 30-point game by Carleton.
CKSN would like to congratulate the JMSS Panthers on an excellent season, and wish all of the seniors the very best in the future.
